Karamoja Bound

Ultimate Uganda Safari

Upon your arrival at the Entebbe airport, our crew will pick you up and we’ll be beginning the journey towards the home of the Mountain Gorillas, in the Rwenzori Mountains. Our first stop will be at a very picturesque farm lodge, close to Mbarara, at halfway the distance between Entebbe and Bwindi. You will be able to enjoy a farm excursion and immerse yourself into the rhythm of Uganda.

Will be starting the day with a bush breakfast and then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The eco lodge (community owned) lies nested between the mountains and the mist providing spectacular views any time of the year.
After checking in, you can relax in the magnificent gardens surrounding the lodge and later in the afternoon, we will be joining the Batwa Pigmy community for an unforgettable cultural experience – you will be able to watch them use ancient methods and tools for making fire, hunting and for healing.

This is the highlight of the trip. Early morning, we will begin the hike on the mountain slopes through the impenetrable forest to track the gorillas accompanied by the UWA’s rangers. We will be seeing one of the habituated groups that live in the park. The experience is better lived than described in words.
Keep in mind that these amazing creatures are living in the wild, and they don’t go out of their way to meet us, nor do we want them too. Hence expect up to 8 hours of hiking with moderate altitude differences in tracking the habituated families.
Upon our arrival back at the lodge, you will be treated with a delicious dinner and then you’ll be able to rememorate the day around the fire.

After experiencing the encounter with the gentle giants, early morning we will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the road we’ll encounter a large palette of wildlife – from big cats, to antelopes and elephants – with focus on the tree climbing lions of Ishasha. During the heat of the day we will be having lunch on a terrace above Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edouard. In the afternoon, we will take you on a cruise on the channel to see the elephants bathing and experience the paradise: peaceful crocodiles that are not attacking any other animals.

For you to enjoy diverse habitats and ecosystems, in the morning we will start our descent towards the floor of the Albertine Rift valley. Semliki is a very intimate wildlife destination, boasting with a lot of bird species, colobus monkeys, chimps and other primates, on top on your usual game combination.
After arriving at the lodge which basically sits in the middle of the jungle, you can relax and enjoy the game that is grazing around peacefully. After lunch, we will be going for a walking safari on the shady forest paths, along the Semliki River. We will track the chimpanzee population living in the park and see a few smaller primates.

After an early breakfast, we’ll drive to the shores of Lake Albert, and then by boat we will start our search for the relic bird: the shoebill, on the waters that are bordering DRC. Of course, this will give you the opportunity to witness a myriad of other species that have made the Lake their habitat. We’ll conclude the day with an evening game drive and a gourmet dinner.

After witnessing the mountain ecosystem in Bwindi, the savannah in QENP and the forest in Semliki, we will drive you towards Murchison Falls National Park. The river Nile is cutting the park in half into two different landscapes and habitats. We will first stop on the edge of the Falls and then continue to our eco luxury lodge that is located right on the Nile shore. Since this is going to be one of our longer drives, for the rest of the day you will relax around the lodge and take advantage of the infinity pool above the Nile and the other amenities (Spa, massage).

We will start the day with a morning game drive on the other side of the river and then we’ll have lunch on the Nile, while cruising around and enjoying the luxuriant scenery. You will have the opportunity to experience a unique ecosystem with an abundance of wildlife.

Early morning we’ll go for a last game drive around the Nile delta and then we will start the voyage towards the wildest Africa savannah park – Kidepo Valley National Park. Due to the longer distance, we will split the journey over two days while giving you the chance to immerse in the Uganda’s northern region. We will stop overnight close to Gulu, at a very picturesque lodge.

After a hearty Acholi breakfast, we will continue our journey towards Kidepo. Around noon we will reach the amazing Apoka lodge, nestled on one of the lion pride’s work. After lunch, you will have the chance to familiarize with the surroundings and breathe in the wilderness. In the afternoon, we will take you for the first game drive in the park.

This day will be reserved for a morning game drive followed by a trip to see the hot springs in Kidepo. We will also take you for a walking safari.

Kidepo Valley cannot be enjoyed fully unless in a laid-back spirit. This day will do just that and then some. Prepare for a nice surprise from the local Karamoja community.

After a last morning game drive and a bush breakfast, we will board the plane on the Apoka landing strip and we’ll take you to Jinja, the source of Nile, fun and adventure. We’ll be staying at a beautiful lodge located on an island in the river Nile, close to its Lake Victoria source. There will be a range of activities that you can choose – from white water rafting to horse riding – keep in mind whatever you choose is included.

Depending on the time of your flight, we will take you to the airport and we’ll be already looking forward to your return in the Pearl of Africa.
