Spreading between the East African Rift Valley and the Albertine Rift and guarded by the Virunga Volcanoes and Mount Elgon, Uganda is an intimate, unspoiled destination that is home to some of the most pristine ecosystems in the world.
Located where seven of Africa’s biogeographic regions converge, this country ranks among the top ten most biodiverse countries globally boasting in rare endemic species that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. Due to this geographical sweet spot, Uganda is home to more than 1000 species of birds, among which the Shoebill, hence it undoubtedly is the finest birdwatching destination in Africa.
Moreover, on the slopes of the Virunga Mountains, in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest lives about half of the global population of endangered Mountain Gorillas. Amazingly, in the same area there are other 10 primate species, including chimpanzees, black and white colobus and red-tailed monkeys.
